Biography in Business from The Hunger Games Director and Ozark Writer

A biographical film about one of the biggest bands of the ’90s, Sublime, is on their way. Earlier this week it was announced hunger Games Director Francis Lawrence is set to direct a movie about a gender-bending band Ozark Presenter and writer Chris Mundy writes the screenplay. At this time, the film’s selection and release date has not been announced.

Sublime’s bio will also feature surviving band members. Bud Gaugh and Eric Wilson are set to executive produce alongside Troy and Jakob Nowell, the widow and son of late Sublime actor Bradley Nowell, according to Entertainment Weekly.

“Wow – we can’t believe this is finally happening and we couldn’t be more honored and excited to have the great Francis Lawrence and Chris Mundy tell our story,” the four executive producers said in a statement.

Sublime is an iconic band from the ’90s, albeit permanently changed by tragedy just as the band’s profile began to rise. Noel died of a heroin overdose in May 1996, just two months before the band’s self-titled album, the album that featured the singles “What I Got”, “Wrong Way” and “Santeria”.

Director Dave Kaplan added, “We are thrilled with Sublime’s wonderful and important story to be told at the end.” “They were daring and pioneering in bringing together many musical genres, cultures, and lifestyles during their short tenure as a band, and their music continues to influence musicians and artists to this day.”

The producers also said they feel Noel’s spirit is with them as the band’s story is brought to life in a new way.

“We know Bradley’s talent and spirit will be part of this amazing journey,” they said.

Samia’s biography does not have a release date yet. Keep checking in with ComicBook.com For updates on the movie in development.
